The Dremoran Pantheon

In Dremora, one is more likely to deny the power the pantheon wields than to deny an individual member or the entire pantheon's existence. The presence and influence of the members of the Dremoran pantheon is nearly always tangible, though often not noticed by all. Regardless, the Pantheon stands at the core – the heart – of Dremora. Each member of the Pantheon supports a region, infusing it with life and granting it characteristics and traits reflective of their own personality and their divine domains. Most individuals living in Dremora are, in some way, connected to a particular member of the Pantheon (or perhaps more than one). The clergy and religious orders of each deity harbor at least some power and may, in some cases, be the primary ruling body of a region. While many of the religious practices are formally overseen by a Priest or Priestess, there are many local practices that are overseen by local acolytes, shamans, or family and clan elders.

Members

The current pantheon is composed of 12 gods and goddesses, each occupying a set of divine domains and serving as the patron deity of one region on the continent. While they are referred to as gods or deities, a more accurate term would be "Spirit of the Land".
  1. Ah'Shal – The goddess of death, the dead, loss, spirits, and souls.
  2. Caliban – The god of the moon, the stars, the tides, time, divination, and fate.
  3. Carmenthia – the goddess of healing, renewal, magic, knowledge, poison, and disease.
  4. Elis – The goddess of the sun, the sky, the wind, warmth, storms, and birds of prey.
  5. Lark – The god of color, poetry, writing, art, craft, creativity, and inspiration.
  6. Nacheevi – The god of justice, law, order, stability, advancement, and technology.
  7. Oshozi – The god of the hunt, agriculture, wild nature, the forest, and beasts.
  8. Parvathian – the god of fortune, travel, presentation, negotiation, and domesticity.
  9. Ragna – The goddess of war, self-sacrifice, battle, heroism, and courage.
  10. Tel'Rhea – The goddess of life, agriculture, fertility, family, flowers, and protection.
  11. Therarask – The god of love, beauty, endurance, illusion, pleasure, and devotion.
  12. Varoona – The goddess of the sea, storms, depths, self-discovery, youth, and freedom.

Mythology & Lore

On Dremora, there are two primary myths on the creation of the pantheon, but both directly involve The One. In one myth, The One drew from the purity of the elemental planes, channeling the innate energy of each of the four planes into three gods. The One fashioned the energy into the specific forms and domains of the present-day pantheon. This myth, however, has largely been dismissed. The other myth states that the gods came into existence directly from the cosmos, birthplace of The One. The Creator oversaw their creation and then gifted them to the material plane where they assumed their godly roles. Under this mythos, the pantheon is divided into the premier gods (those born first) and the auxiliary gods (those born after). The premier gods include Ah'Shal, Tel'Rhea, Caliban, and Elis as they represent life, death, night, and day, respectively.

Divine Origins

The death of Judas and the ascension of Parvathian re-revealed the true nature of the pantheon: once mortal. There was no elemental plane or cosmic birth that created the gods. Rather, each member of the pantheon was once mortal and was elevated to godhood. While the immortality and powers of godhood may seem like a blessing and a gift... it is not without its curse. For each member of the pantheon is forever bound intricately to the region they represent. They are tasked with an eternity of fighting a battle against themselves. Should they be consumed by the darker sides of themselves, it will not just be the pantheon consumed.
