Harpy
Harpies are a species of Monster native to The New World. They resemble female Humans, but possess avian wings and feathered bird-like legs. The name "Harpy" is derived from a winged female humanoid of Old World legend, though it is unknown whether any actual connection exists.
Harpies are sapient, but primitive, and are highly territorial. Their native Language is barely comprehensible to Human ears, but some speak rudimentary Archaean as well. Their voice has a hypnotic effect on humanoid creatures, lulling them into a trance and rendering them helpless to defend themselves. Some Harpies have been observed using bows and arcane magic in Battle as well as fighting alongside domesticated Winged Beasts and Steel Hawks.
Harpies were discovered on 9/5/213 by Djinn, Günther, Helena, Myth, Petra, and Ranaghar in the ruin known as Günther's Fall. Their feathers are useful Resources for Crafting and have an alchemical affinity for Mind.

Genetics and Reproduction
Harpies reproduce sexually, have only one gender (female), and lay a single egg 2-3 months after mating with a male Human. Interbreeding with Humans is necessary for Harpies to reproduce, which they believe to be the result of a supernatural curse.
