Resource Nodes
Resource Nodes are naturally occurring concentrations of Resources, which may be harvested by player characters or NPCs. The difference between a Resource Node and a Treasure is that the Resources within are still in their natural state and have not been collected or processed by sentient beings. For example, a crate of Mineral ore is a Treasure, whereas a vein of the same Mineral in a mountain is a Resource Node. Other examples of Nodes include a herd of Monsters, a thicket of Plants, or a formation of Gems.
Characters may discover Resource Nodes while Adventuring, in which case they are obligated to include the discovery in their Adventure Report. Once a Resource node has been discovered, its location will be marked on the Map for the benefit of future adventurers. NPCs may also seek out Resource Nodes or exploit those discovered by players. Conversely, they may offer Bounties for player characters to find Nodes of a particular type. Discovering Resource Nodes is one of the main ways in which characters gain XP. Importantly, Resource Nodes are finite and cease to exist if all the Resources within are harvested. Nodes which consist of Monsters or Plants will replenish themselves over time if left alone, while those consisting of Minerals or Gems cannot be replenished by any means.
