Prince Galen

Galen is the son of Empress Otrera and her consort Issyndr, making him Prince of the Empire. He also has a twin sister, Dea.

Personal history

Galen, along with twin sister Dea, was born to Issyndr and the Empress Otrera. They were raised in the Imperial Palace in Erda, Ambrosia.
At the age of eight, both children went to the Areto Iphito Academy after only the most basic of testing. As is usually the case with children of senshi, they were regarded as highy likely to become senshi in their own right, so effecitively 'jumped the queue'. And sure enough, Dea awoke as Sailor Ambrosia, indicating there was some truth to the assessment.
Galen, on the other hand, whilst growing into a well rounded young man, showed no signs of becoming a rare male senshi. Despite this, he still wanted to be able to do some good for the Empire, also very aware that whilst he might be his mother's heir, he was never likely to inherit (and it would be as a figurehead, Otrera already having made laws such that when she died the Empire would continue to run itself).
Galen accompanied the group of Atlas senshi that travelled to Aesyle when word reached them that Sailors Hyas, Aesyle and Eudora were active on the planet. He made the offer for the three of them to come back to the capital to have a look at how things were there and was a little disappointed when only one accepted the offer.
Galen was not present for the Burning of Asahla but arrived on the planet not long after to help with the recovery work. He found Mahla Rey Nahls (Sailor Aesyle) and offered to assist however he could. He was very shocked when she suggested they become engaged. He tried to make her understand why this was strange for him, whilst she was much more able to make him see that this wasn't strange for her. In fact, he was quickly able to realise that he was probably the best option she was ever going to get. He ended up agreeing but with a few stipulations - such as waiting for a few years because she was only seventeen and he didn't feel like she should be making such a commitment at so young (even though he was ony a couple of years older).
And whilst it does take a few years, they do get married. It's a bit of a big deal because of who he is. Or rather, who his mother is. But his relationship with Mahla gives him a voice in the Asahla society and allows him to help implement small changes, with Mahla giving him insight into how things work in her world. It takes time and it all seems so slow but it also helps a little that in general people are distracted by the rebuilding.

Galen attended the Areto Iphito Academy from the age of eight until he was eighteen. Whilst he had the option of persuing further academic studies, he ends up not doing so due to incidents on Aesyle that draw his focus there.

History

Galen and Dea are twins, so they've known each other and been around each other their entire lives. It's fair to say that they know each other pretty well, which tends to come across as they know exactly what to do or say to wind the other person up in a moment.
They walk that fine line of sibling relationships where they are more than happy to throw the other under the bus if it means getting out of trouble with their parents but the moment someone outside the family is getting involved, they're a tight unit.
They're also not afraid to call each other out on terrible choices - Dea has a lot to say about Galen's engagement to Mahla, even when he's explained it to her several times. This has the unfortunate side effect of Dea being unreasonable to Mahla at times, though this improves over time.
They've mellowed out over time, though that could just be because they see each other less, what with Galen living on Aesyle and Dea staying (mostly) on Ambrosia.

Nicknames & Petnames

Noto and Mito are Phytian petnames for brother and sister respectively, which the pair were taught by their mother at a young age. They still use them now and again, either if they're teasing each other or being genuine.

Wealth & Financial state

Due to his mother's position as Empress, Galen has access to a substantial amount of that wealth. There are restrictions about how he can use it, though, because no one wants him bankrupting the family. So far, he's mostly invested his money, though keeps enough to live on and provide some creature comforts.
