Patient Zero
In the fall of 842AC,
Elliot Cooper was being harassed at
The Tall Pine by a very drunk
Blake Cutter . Blake hated the groundskeeper of the
Riven Graveyard and nearly beat him to death.
Luckily,
Esim Roughwood was visiting Riven and intervened, knocking Blake unconscious. Esim, a twisted man, saw an opportunity and convinced Elliot that no one could know; otherwise he would be punished severely. Together, they hid Blake in a secret room in the graveyard.
They kept Blake locked up for 3 years. Esim manipulated Elliot into experimenting on Blake with various diseases. In 845AC, they created Necrorot through the means of combining various diseases in a human host.
Unfortunately,
Tobi Cooper , Elliot's son, found and released Blake, and inadvertently killed
Annabelle Fullbright and
Charles Fullbright .
Make it Liquid
In 851AC,
Esim Roughwood visited
Riven once again, looking to task
Elliot Cooper with recreating Necrorot, but in a deadlier liquid form.
Esim threatened Elliot's sons life, and also exposed the truth about
Blake Cutter 's murder. Even so, Elliot refused to cooperate. Esim cut off his left arm to show him he was serious.
Elliot then recreated necrorot using rats alone, mass producing vials of the liquid form of necrorot for Esim and subsequently
The Merchant .
Elliot killed himself after learning of the death of his son and the consequence of his actions.
Infection and Antidote
Ingesting the pungent brown liquid form of necrorot instantly infects the target without a saving throw. Upon death, a host will spread airborne spores and infect any creature within a 10ft radiys. Each creature capable of inhaling the spores must make a DC15 Constitution saving throw or become infected with Necrorot.
If an infected creatures drinks a necrorot-antidote, they can immediately repeat the saving throw. On a failure, the saving throw DC increases by 1 and they cannot repeat this saving throw for another 24 hours.
A Greater Restoration or Heal spell may be used to cure Necrorot. Other methods may also work, such as finding a rare magical ointment or other magical means.
