Temple of Corellon

The greatest of temples to Corellon was built North of the city of Elothil , long before the Elvish Civil War and hence long before construction of the city. Here, the elves who fled the destruction brought about by Bhaal during the Age of Chaos built a great monument. It is said that Corellon's blessing has kept the elves safe during this difficult time. If this legend proved to be true, it would make the Temple of Corellon one of the only known free settlements to survive the Age of Chaos.

There are no surviving monks of the original temple that can attest to this, but in the early years of civilization (post AC), it is said that the Monks of Corellon taught the previously enslaved elvish people the traditions of their people. The Monks of Corellon also warned the elves of the Drow, which sparked the creation of many military houses. The victory of the elves in the Elvish Civil War can in this way be directly attributed to the warning of the Monks of Corellon.

Most temples to Corellon are not as elaborate or grandiose as this one. They are usually located in woodlands, unlike this temple which is found high in the mountains, overlooking the city of Elothil. The temple is beautiful and blends in seemlessly with the surrounding landscape, which consists of majestic mountains, lush forest and peaceful waterfalls. The temple itself is built within a massive Ancient Oak tree.
