Xolec

Xolec was a vampire that threatened Saltmarsh at the very end of the 14th and 15th centuries.
Starting at the end of 1399, Xolec arrived in Saltmarsh and began feasting on the towns inhabitants, threatening to become the undead overlord of the town. During his brief reign, Xolec became infatuated by a drow named Sindy,who spurned his advances, fearful for her own life and those of others in town. Sindy sought protection from a young Marsher fisherman, Aliford Tidepusher, and Xolec swore that he would have Sindy at any cost.
However, before Xolec would get his opprotunity, members of the Order of the Gauntlet arrived in Saltmarsh. Unable to locate the vampire's coffin, thus slaying him for good, the members of the order sealed Xolec in the basement of a house beneath the bluff where the Temple of Umberlee resided.
Overcome with joy at being free of Xolec, the people of Saltmarsh dressed in mocking images of the vampire, which would expand to become the yearly Monster's Eve holiday, where Marshers would dress as monsters to celebrate the town's overcoming of all threats.
By 1496, memory of Xolec's reign over the town was still present, but details had grown fuzzy, such as the precise location where he was buried. The area of town he was sealed in had generally grown poorer and more destitute since his imprisonment, a likely result of knowing a vampire was trapped next door, but Xolec was generally out of sight and out of mind.
In Nightal of 1496, Necian Arrzen, one of the Heroes of Saltmarsh, and three of the members of the B-Team, Seraphina Pierce, Ardek Oredelver, and Raven Bloodash unwittingly released Xolec while investigating the town for people inflicted with Banesmarks using Detect Magic, discovering and then breaking the Order of the Guantlet's seal in the process.
At large once again, Xolec began feasting on the people of Saltmarsh and planned on getting Sindy for himself once and for all. Sindy, terrified, remained indoors with her now-husband Al, while the Heroes of Saltmarsh and the B-Team hatched a plan to disguise Necian as Sindy, luring out Xolec. The plan worked, and the ten members of both teams easily dispatched Xolec, forcing him to retreat to his coffin on the island containing Saltmarsh's standing stones, allowing the adventurers to kill Xolec once and for all, trapping his soul in the God Trap. Micah Pierce then ritually sacrificed Xolec's soul to his patron.
