Sindy Tidepusher

Sindy Tidepusher

Sindy Tidepusher is an eccentric drow woman residing in Saltmarsh. Though she would proclaim herself to be most well known for being the creator of the fish knack, most in town know and appreciate Sindy most for her tremendous potion crafting expertise.

History

Sometime before the end of the 14th century, Sindy moved to Saltmarsh and was never forthcoming about where she came from. Though initially disliked and distrusted for her drow heritage, Sindy's eternally cheerful personality helped her to eventually find a place in town, though she never rose to level of more than an acquaintance for most.   In 1399, the vampire Xolec arrived in Saltmarsh, looking to become the town's undead overlord. While he terrorized the citizens, devouring some while making others his thralls, Xolec became infatuated with Sindy, looking to make the drow woman his own. Sindy refused, rarely venturing outside, and was protected during Xolec's reign by a young halfling fisherman named Aliford "Al" Tidepusher.   In Marpenoth of 1490, Xolec's short reign of terror came to an end when members of the Order of the Gauntlet, unable to locate Xolec's coffin, managed to seal the vampire away in the basement of a house, magically enchanting the doorway so that the vampire couldn't escape.   Following Xolec's defeat, Sindy and Al truly fell in love, marrying in the early 15th century.   For the next near century, Al and Sindy were happily married. Sindy made her living crafting various potions, and Al assisted her by retrieving rare aquatic ingridients for her with his diving suit.   In the late 1490s, Sindy decided to branch out from potions and found her true calling in creating and designing fish knacks, magically preserved fish dressed and posed as a variety of characters and professions. However, the fish knacks became more of a curiosity than anything for the townsfolk, who continued mostly procuring potions from Sindy.   In the summer of 1496, Sindy became acquainted with the Heroes of Saltmarsh, as the adventurers regularly needed her potions for magical healing. Though initially only there for the potions, the Heroes quickly became enamoured with fish knacks, gifting them to friends and family and buying them for themselves.   Right before the Battle of the Spire, Mogran Oredelver and Lyra signed over the rights to their likenesses to allow Sindy to advertize her fish knacks as "Hero of Salmarsh approved."   In Nightal of 1496, Necian Arrzen and various members of the B-Team accidentally released Xolec from his imprisonment. Sindy, traumatized at Xolec's return, locked herself in her house, with a much older Al standing guard. However, the Heroes and B-team were able to defeat Xolec by baiting a trap Necian using magic to make himself appear to be Sindy, much to the actual woman's relief.   In 1501, Al passed away from old age. Sindy was grief stricken, but understoof that it was time for her beloved husband to pass on. Sindy began sourcing her fish and rare ingridients from the pseudodragon Sizzabiz.   In the first decade of the 16th century, the Hero Micah Pierce began working for Sindy, helping to advertize and sell fish knacks in cities across Northwest Faerun, turning the once obscure items into a genuine sensation.   By the beginning of the 17th century, Sindy, now much older, remained living in a much more bustling and prosperous Saltmarsh.
