Session 6 - Corruption

General Summary

Upon delving deeper into the Trolls' lair, the group discovered a shrine dedicated to Temenos. Fimbul, feeling a divine connection, dedicated himself to the god. They fought their way through waves of trolls and Trollhounds, pushing ever deeper into the labyrinthine tunnels. During their exploration, Hugo devised a plan to disguise himself as one of the Hobgoblin Archers that inhabited the ruins. Unfortunately, his ruse was short-lived when he encountered the Cavern Troll leading the monstrous denizens. The troll, unfooled by Hugo's disguise, mentioned a mysterious "her" and a bandit kingdom named Theram before imprisoning Hugo alongside a halfling named Farwin.
The group quickly mounted a rescue, freeing Hugo and Farwin before engaging the Cavern Troll in a fierce battle. They discovered that the troll’s abnormal intelligence was due to a fey-made crown he wore. However, the victory came at a cost—Hugo began showing signs of fever after being bitten by a trollhound, prompting the group to rush back to River's Edge.
Back in town, Alais and Fimbul pursued the enigmatic Red Justice through the forest but lost him after a tense chase. They deduced that Red Justice was Jackmond, with Brawn as his sidekick. Suspicions about Franco's corruption and extortion of refugees surfaced, though they had no concrete proof.
After a brief respite, the group investigated an old tomb where Fimbul faced and vanquished The Ancient Warrior. They then made their way to the Black Kobold Caves, discovering that Franco had arrested Brawn and sentenced him to be beheaded. Arriving just in time, they saved Brawn, and in a decisive move, Alais severed Franco's hand as punishment before banishing him from River's Edge.
