The Golden City of Auror
A relic from the Age of Prosperity, little is known about the utopian city of Auror. Founded by a gold dragon named Aurovoran and located somewhere in the deserts of Varen, its moniker has led many to surmise the buildings and streets were crafted of the precious metal. More likely, "Golden City" refers to its founder, or perhaps to the supposed moral perfection of its citizens.
Auror rose toward the end of the Age of Prosperity, when the ambitions began their slow creep across the world but had not yet coalesced into deities. Over the centuries it endured, it was considered a bastion against Thera's moral corruption and civil decline, leading many poor and desperate to pilgrimage there. But Auror refused entry to all but a small minority deemed "pure" enough. When Hyrra, Xeipent, and Ebsolum came into being at the same time the gold dragon Aurovoran passed away, Auror closed its gates completely.
Any records stretching from this time to Auror's mysterious fall exist only in the city itself. Historians suggest the city was located somewhere along the Naiigal River, though the water's path has likely shifted far from its old course in the centuries since. The secrets of this ancient utopia are buried deep in the desert, waiting to be explored.
