Hyperion Ethics Committee

A government organization of the Hyperion Federation. The Ethics Committee oversees all developments in HF technology. It then assesses the potential long term damage to the stabiilty of the societies of the federation. On these grounds, the Ethics Committee has the right to deny a technology from entering wider service. One thing that is out of their control, however, is distribution of the techprint. All techprints to be analyzed must be classified and encoded as to not allow the techprint to be stolen before transmission to the Committee. They are one of the very few organizations with deep access to the archive. This access is only done under strict supervision by entire groups of other workers and also strictly monitored from outside by archivists. This way, the risk of introducing highly classified techprints to the shallower levels of the archive. This organization is culturally seen as inconvenient at times, but is known to be very important. The various cultures of the HF understand that the Rih'kiel Prime fell because of its unethical technological development, and the people of the modern HF dont want to repeat these mistakes.
