Zar - Class Destroyer
A Harkas bioship species of a similar size as a Boson - Class Destroyer and named after the Zar Belt.
The Zar-class destroyer is approximately as advanced as a Boson - Class Destroyer and performs a similar role, oweing to the exceptional ingenuity of the Harkas and to inspiration from the actual Boson - Class Destroyer itself. With a length of roughly 2 km, it was a high speed vehicle with very powerful armament.
It has a relatively large crew though, due to the sheer complexity of some of its anatomy. Much like the boson, the Zar - class is capable of self-repair and can be modified by some specific officers in the ship itself. By using their gene splicing gland as well as the hivemind ability, they can be influenced to regrow certain parts including battle repair. They have even managed to replicate the function of Quantum Entropy Neutralizer machines which radiate the majority of heat generated by its antimatter annihilation organs. They have also replicated the function of ZPE machines to the point where all basic bodliy functions of the Zar-class are maintained even if the antimatter organs fail.
Due to it requiring harkas hivemind to operate, it cannot be used by any species other than the Harkas themselves. However the crew compartment is quite large but well protected, so in battle it is often hit but is able to withstand a lot of enemy fire. Many non-harkas individuals became curious to view the Zar-class from the crew compartment near the center of the ship, but are often surprised to see that the interior is kept surprisingly clean and easy to operate (as long as one has the harkas hivemeind ability). The compartment makes use of the lack of gravity, making use of all nearby wall sapce and dramatically improving the amount of 'bench space' available in any room. The walls of the compartment are quite soft on the interior but other than that it is also made of a number of rooms, similar to mechanical starships. The crew compartment is only reachable by biological Teleporters that the Harkas has also engineered. The Zar - class can be operated on a very low crew budget, requiring only 10 people to move long distances through space. This is due to the exterme autonomy of biological organisms. All tasks required for function are already performed by organs or symbiotic orgsnisms.
The crew compartment can also be filled with water. This way, it gains many of the benefits of Ultra-Accelerative Starships, but can only be piloted by some aquatic subspecies of harkas, making these quite rare.
Almost as modular and powerful as the Boson, the Zar is effectively the backbone of Unified Arkan Council contribution to the greater Hyperion Federation military. Its track record is long and excellent, having taken part in a number of wars.
