Beryl Oakheart (a.k.a. Barrel)

Barrel Oakheart is the owner of the The Lantern House Inn in the Town of Belmar.  He is a 44-year-old Halfling male who works and manages the Lantern House with his wife and 7 other employees.
Barrel's actual name is "Beryl" and was given to him by his mother because of the color of his eyes: a bright, pale blue.  Barrel eventually grew into a broad, stout Halfling shaped like a barrel, so the inevitable nickname became his moniker.

Barrel's parents were killed during an orc invasion 20 years earlier, and he took over their family-owned inn.  He married his childhood sweetheart, Bree Coaler, and they have four boys, two serving in the Rangers and two serving in the Scouts at various places around the country.

Mental Trauma

Barrel was forced to watch his parents be killed while they fought to defend him when he was just 12 years old.  He carries a deep and abiding hatred of orcs because of this.
