Anna "Nan" Bower is the owner of the Sword and Flagon Inn of the City of Dunrick. She is a 52-year-old Human that made her fortune as a hunter and adventurer in the western regions of the Barony of Dunrick 25 years earlier.

Personal history
Born the only child of Ward Bower, the Hunt Master of the Briary of Dunlowe and close friend of both Briar Guy Stepman and his father, Clay Stepman. Ward doted on Nan, often taking her with him on extended hunts into the wilds of the vast Junn Steppe. Nan learned fast and young to use a bow and by the time she was 12 years of age, she was already a far better shot than her father. She won contests at every fair, tournament and competition she participated in, and by the time she was 16, she was considered one of the finest archers in the entire region. When her father was killed tragically while hunting a pack of man-eating Dire Wolves in 199 AF, Nan took up with a group of adventurers working out of the city of Wessold. For seven years, she roamed the wilds of the north and west collecting bounties on the most deadly and dangerous predators known. Her fame and reputation grew with each season, and by the age of 25 she was the leader of a group of seven exceptionally capable and dangerous adventurers. In 208 AF, while hunting wyverns near the Colo border, the party was surprised and attacked by a particuarly large Black Dragon. Only Nan survived the attack, and it was her arrow that finally killed the beast while it was trying to retreat into its lair after being seriously wounded. As a result of her being the sole survivor of the attack, both the dragon and its hoard were all hers.

Aside from a deep and abiding wish to provide a necessary service to a community that Nan dearly loves, she is also driven to assist and guide young and aspiring adventurers as they risk their lives to pacify and secure the frontiers of the Barony and the Kingdom.
Wealth & Financial state
Nan is very, very wealthy. After retiring from adventuring with the entire value of a slain Black Dragon and its hoard, Nan purchased and rebuilt the Sword and Flagon and now lives and operates the inn full-time. She certainly doesn't need to, however. Even a conservative estimate puts her personal wealth at more than more than 7,000 guilders (nearly $3 million).
