Renee Dechateone was the wife and Queen of King Marcel III of Aria, and is the mother of the current King, Tessian. She was born to the wealthy and influential Count of Dunmore, Ranald Dechateone, who rules much of the kingdom's heartland along the Arial River.

Renee's father, Count Ranald Dechateone, was a powerful and influential noble controlling a large region of the kingdom. He arranged the marriage of his young daughter to the much older king in the hopes of increasing his influence at the Malamor court, and he was wildly successful. King Marcel was a pliable monarch, and Renee was a constant reminder of how much power and authority the king was losing year after year.
