Esavol
Esavol (or Esavola for a female) is the title given to the ruler of the Eladrin-in-Exile of Tavanion. The title is not hereditary. During their lifetime, an Esavol is expected to choose three worthy heirs. After the death of an Esavol, the three heirs compete in ancient Trials of Worth to see which of the three can claim the rulership of Tavanion. If none are found worthy by the Trials, then the knights of Tavanion go on long quests through the Feywild, looking for signs as to who will be their next ruler.
At the time of the founding of the Seven Kingdoms, Shalana Silvermyst was Esavola of her people. Maraliana ap Kadishai held the title in 1081 SKR when the Tarrasque devastated the capital city of Gwyllan's Watch, causing her to abandon Tol for the Feywild with the majority of her people. Some, including her son Belerion ap Kadishai, refused to leave. Many referred to Belerion as the Esavol until his passing at the Battle of Worldbreaker's Howe.
