Jacoby

Abbot Jacoby is the leader of the Church of Shandalene in Seowyn's Crossing. He is ambitious, conservative, and a bit haughty, and he was never pleased that the previous Abbot Justan took in the Minotaur boy Eustace. Although many thought he intended to remove the boy as soon as he became Abbot, that turned out not to be the case. Eventually, Jacoby ultimately confided in Eustace that he was hard on the boy because he was terrified that Eustace would turn to the service of Baphomet, creator of the minotaur race. He has even admitted that he was wrong and that he is proud of the man that Eustace has become.

Eustace, later called Natharios, eventually learned that Jacoby was part of the group (also including Abbot Justan, Brother Candus, and Brother Teodorus) that saved him from his Uncle Sklirios Bloodheart and his brother Kethalios Blackhorns when his parents Eleos and Kalosyne Blackhorns were slain. Abbot Justan had previously told him that they’d been saved from a Goblinoid attack. This led to a deeper understanding between the two priests of Shandalene, as Natharios understood that they told him this to protect him.
