Taernsby
Taernsby is a quiet town at the heart of the Bay Watch region of the Salvae Empire. The town, and the lands stretching to Norbury and the Song Maiden's Bay, is under the sole jurisdiction of, and overseen by, Viscountess Violeta of House Balor from the hill-top manor, Chateau Balor. The town is situated at the northeastern edge of the Baltos Forest, which is known for its otherworldly connections and occurrences. These tales of the supernatural have subplanted a strong paranoia in many of the townsfolk towards magic while others have noticed an uptick of certain demographics that have migrated into Taernsby and the region as a whole, namely Tieflings; their Infernal lineage only adding to the paranoia.
The town is home to a variety of buildings and businesses, catering to the needs of its residents and visitors. The main street is lined with shops and markets, where merchants sell goods from all over the Empire and beyond. One of the most notable buildings in the town is the smithy, run by a skilled blacksmith, named Tonne. He produces a wide range of tools and weapons for the town's residents.
Another important building in the town is the small tonic shop, owned by a savvy trader named Landon Tark. He specializes in rare and exotic plants and materials that he harvests from the nearby forests, and is always willing to make a deal with customers. The shop is always bustling with activity of the magically-gifted and the Viscountess herself buys directly from him.
The town also boasts a hunting lodge owned by a grizzled hunter named Thorne, who has spent most of his life tracking and hunting game in the nearby Baltos Forest. He offers weapons, equipment, and guides to those who want to venture into the forest. The lodge is also a popular spot for the town's residents to gather and swap stories of their hunting adventures.
Additionally, there is the lumber mill, which is a vital part of the town's economy. The mill is owned by a skilled and experienced lumberjack, named Jasper Xale. He employs many of the town's residents and provides the lumber for the town's buildings and woodworkers. The mill is located just on the outskirts of the town.
