Baltos Forest
The Baltos Forest is a primeval wilderness that stretches for hundreds of miles, covering a significant portion of the western territory of the Salvae Empire, sometimes less formally known as the Wester Wood by man. The forest's ancient canopy towers over the land, casting a dappled light upon the ground below. Moss-covered oaks, towering pines, and gnarled roots create a natural labyrinth. The forest has been a source of valuable resources for the Salvans, providing them with everything from timber to game, herbs, and then some.
Hidden amongst the Baltos Forest also lies the High Elf city, Kasluma.
The forest is teeming with hidden groves, forgotten paths, and ancient portals that lead to other realms. It is said that the trees in the forest are enchanted and that they whisper secrets to those who listen closely. The forest is home to many dangerous creatures, wild beasts, and powerful fey, that are not to be trifled with.
There is a lot of history and old magics that have settled deep within its roots and all but the most foolhardy or stupid venture deep into the canopy's shadows or stray far from the paths, many of which are rumored to move of their own accord. There are old wives' tales that the trees in those woods can even speak... many woodsmen, hunters, and loggers laugh because they know that's the furthest thing from truth.
Those old woods, and its inhabitants, can do far more than just speak.
