The Stars
The night sky is not only illuminated by The Moon in Trutina, but hundreds and hundreds of small, shining dots called stars. Before the sciences reached a sufficient level, there were many outlandish theories about these lights. Some people thought that they were holes in a dome-like firmament above Trutina, while others believed them to be celestial beings flying across the sky.
With more sophisticated magical techniques, these theories fell out of circulation for the most part and one world-view dominates the scientific community:
Stars are left-over sparks from the great war between Kaos and the gods of Order. They are very similar to The Sun, but much smaller and so far away that they barely seem to be moving.
This is all just an illusion of perspective however as magical methods to gauge their distance always gives differing results and despite not looking like it, they are rapidly changing their distance to Trutina.
Some scholars theorize that they are actually not smaller than The Sun, but in fact mostly larger and each has its own set of worlds circling them. This theory, pushed by elven aristocracy is refuted by the all of the universities of The Continent.
Their viewpoint is perfectly summarized by the words of Larus Dinimios III, Grandmaster of Astrology in the University of Lagburg:
"The Great Mechanism is a perfect entity and everything that it creates is optimal. What would be the purpose of some far off pieces of rock floating in the empty aether when Trutina is the gods' focus?"
