Briarra

Consisting of two large landmasses connected by a relatively narrow landbridge, the continent of Briarra is notable for having been the original home of elvenkind on Valine and the birthplace of Nivian. Nivian's very presence in the world rewrote the landscape of the southern landmass, twisting it into an unrecognizable wasteland in the short time Nivian resided in the area. It remains virtually uninhabitable to this day. The northern landmass is a sparsely populated continent ranging from temperate to sub-arctic climates. The population centers remain mostly near the coast, as the center remains a mix of tundra and thick forest jealously guarded by isolated and rather xenophobic elves who want their ancestral home to remain untouched. Some other remote single species villages can be found in the interior as well as tribes who have yet to have much, if any, contact with the outside world. These tribes have sufficient longevity in the region, dating back to the time before Nivian to be tolerated and even traded with by the elf traditionalists that dominate the continent's interior. The populated western coast is eclectic and has a thriving sea trade with several large port cities. The dominant human ethnicity, the Briarraroti, are slender and tawny skinned with hair colors ranging from a dirty blonde to black and, most commonly, green or brown eyes and they largely keep to the southwest landmass joined to the rest of the continent by a broad but shallow isthmus. Briarra also includes some nearby populated islands and, at the far eastern tip, a partially aquatic city dominated by triton and jal-assatt holds sway over most of the region.
