The Victoria Tower

Out of the fog rises a magnificent tower, with four clock faces on each side. Each day it chimes its five-tone song on the hour, every hour, though no one has ever entered or left to maintain it. What lies inside The Victoria Tower? The Tower, at 385 feet tall, stands as a symbol of national pride for the Empire. It is a demonstration of might, of beauty, and above all, of wealth. but its purpose is not only telling the time. The Tower was constructed over the Great Engine, the device that keeps the center of Victoriam afloat, and pumps fuel to the other engines around the city. Inside the tower lies an abandoned home, complete with a library, and staircases from the belfry at the top to the engine room at the base. The belfry houses five different bells, the Henry, the Edward, the James, the Anne. and the largest of the five, the Elizabeth. The Victoria Clock Tower stands as the most recognizable landmark in all of Victoriam, towering over the grand mansions of the court families.

Purpose / Function

The Tower meant to be the centerpiece of Victoriam, a symbol of national pride. Insidd the tower were a set of apartments, meant as a second home and a station for any of the Machinators to maintain the Great Engine. For a while Jothan Sixsmith stayed in the Tower, keeping the Engine in working order and gazing out over the city.

Alterations

The Katherine Clock was originally unlit, and was lit by Erythrine lamps in 1860, giving it's signature red hue. The apartments inside, still remain, however the entrance door was completely sealed after the death of Jothan Sixsmith, and there was no way to enter the tower or the Great Engine underneath. No other entrances have ever been found, yet the tower still remains in perfect working order.

Architecture

The tower is made of limestone cladding, and was built in a gothic revival architecture style. The spire, and other metal accents such as columns are made from steel. The Katherine Clock is lit by Erythrine-powered lights, giving it a reddish hue. The Shaw and Staler clocks are made of blue-stained glass, and the Haniver clock is merely very reflective, and will reflect any light during the day or night.
