The Known Universe

The Known Universe is the entire realm where material objects and creatures, magical effects and intelligence as we know it can exist. It is sometimes known as the Tower-Helix Universe, named after its two most abiding and ancient deities. Conceptually, it can be thought of as a sphere filled with a cloudy, mostly empty phenomenon known as Voidspace. Scattered about the inner surface of this sphere are the material, arcane and sometimes esoteric realms known as Planes. It is on these planes that life as we know it exists.

Outside of the sphere is little understood. Throughout most of the Universe's Cycle there has been a dark, spotted nothingness occasionally called Pandæmonium. But during brief periods and for completely unknown reasons, it manifests a jittering, roiling chaos known varyingly as Kos, Extus or Quick Entropus.

The Daybreak Empire splits The Known Universe into Eighths, based on the eight core- or crux-planes surrounding Eridún and Lochros. Planes are classified, among other ways, by which Eighth they fall within.
