Pirates of the Archipelago

The smugglers, thieves, extortionists and other criminal sailors who sails in the Ketrikkhaz Archipelago are colloquially known as the Isles Pirates. Though they are many splintered groups rather than a common whole, they often share traits with eachother. They are known for their ferocity against those who fail to surrender, but it is not uncommon to hear of those who do surrender to be left merely without goods, but with their lives intact.
The various pirates do not always find common ground despite their profession, and rivalries exists as pirate lords cow those under them into submission when within their territories and hideouts, but beyond that anything goes.   The ships used by the pirates comes in almost every type one could imagine but the ones most favored are mid-sized ships that strikes a balance between maneuverability & speed and the longer range & cargo space of larger ships.

Legendary Pirate Crews

The Courtesans

An infamous group that began to gain recognition since 525 for their expertise at completing heists unseen. Rumors are abound of them being the spectral remains of courtesans lost at sea to them secretly being a cabal of powerful mages. What is known for certain however is their ability to make the goods of a ship or convoy disappear during the travels, with no one sure where it has gone and with no ship spotted by those onboard.

The Last Gasp

A group of pirates that have been around in some form since 518. The group is famed for their rivalry with the Ni'rral Empire, being composed of the young and educated, the disgruntled, and the disillusioned veterans of the Empire. Seeking almost exclusively to target imperial ships to take down one of the necessary parts of their war effort that keeps the remnants alive, the group has accrued increasingly high bounties.
Finding the group has proven difficult however owing to the Empire's bad reputation among other nations along with it being one of the few groups to never take a flag of their own, but to instead pilot unmarked vessels or even those with civilian flags or those of other nations, the latter of which are the only ones to gain notable reactions outside of the Empire.

Whitescar's Claws

The name given to the small fleet sailing under captain Whitescar's flag. Through the many legends surrounding the pirate lord, the consistent ones depict her as a foreigner that came to the Dulinri and began to take in their culture, but ended up coming in conflict with them and was banished beyond the archipelago. Years later, she is supposed to have returned with a fleet to wreck havoc upon the oceans. Renowned for her cleverness, no target is considered too small or big for the greed of the pirate lord whose sight always remains on unique treasures to add to her hoard. The only consolation given to those finding themselves within her reach is her honesty, as a ship promised safe passage through her waters has never failed to reach their destination, even in the worst of conditions.

The Red Swan

Being one of the biggest terrors active in the waters of Ikune, the Red Swan is said to only be outdone by the kraken itself. regardless if it is true or not, nobody argues with the swiftness or the brutality committed by the undead crew that mans the ship, powered by the souls of their victims. Even when sunk, the ships are known to never stay gone for long and only few live to tell the tale of the dreaded meetings with the dark vessel that roams the waters when the blood moon rises.
