Eywell

Eywell is a town located on the border of Vorba's and Mystryl's territories. It is a small town, with standing structures able to support about 2,000 residents. Travelers first put down roots almost 1,000 years ago, but Eywell blossomed into a substantial settlement about 350 years ago. The walls and buildings are in robust condition, and the people look like they lead successful lives.   The town sits at one of two points where the Highway crosses the Midnight River. The banks converge sharply here, creating perhaps the narrowest point of the river, and a small natural island sits in the middle. Many bridges have been built over the centuries, and the initial settlers were craftspeople tasked with the constant upkeep and construction. As more villagers from the countryside came together, the people decided to set up permanent shelters and walls to protect themselves.   While it is considered one town, the river bifurcates it into two distinct parts. Each side operates and maintains one of the two River Gates, the drawbridges connecting the shores to the island and allowing passage across the river. Each side also has its own leadership. The dragonborn Claamralar Lorroth leads the western side along with his minister, the elf Luthais Mornala. The eastern side is governed by the human Bodil Blackmaw and his elvish minister, Vanya Heledi. They ostensibly rule jointly, but most of the residents of each side consider themselves an independent settlement, and each leader acts in the interests of his half.   Most of the Party first visited Eywell when they were traveling back to Mystryl after stepping through one of the herald of darkness' shadow portals. When they arrived, they noticed many travelers living in temporary conditions outside the town walls. The Party was quickly ushered through the western gate and given a room for the night, and the following morning, they were given prompt passage across the river. They didn't have any time to explore the town to learn more about its history, services, law enforcement, or current events.
