Ordonians
Long before the word "Ordonians" came to common use, most of those described by it would simply call themselves "humans", as if no one else existed in this world. After encountering the first Vurradins, they started to call themselves "civilised humans" instead, as opposed to the "uncivilised" humans from outside their lands. I wonder, what kind of an arrogant demonym would Ordonians come up with to elevate themselves should they meet any human race as civilised as them.Just like with Vurradins, the term "Ordonians" describes not a certain race but rather all people whose ancestors originated from a certain geographical area. Its exact usage and prevalence, however, varies across the Windrule. In the Old World, the term "Ordonians" predominantly relates only to the inhabitants of Ordonia and their close descendants: the Kosaris, the Hummish and the Kimnans, sometimes including the Durreans as well. On the other hand, in the New World the term "Ordonians" is usually used to refer to all inhabitants of the Old World as opposed to the Vurradins, who are the native inhabitants of the New World.

Civilised humans
Unlike the word "Ordonians", the so-called "civilised humans" also include the race of Eirish living on the Wellimbrook Archipelago off the coast of Ordonia. It is a much older term, and "Ordonians" had originally come to use for situations when that distinction had to be made clear and the term "civilised humans" would not suffice. However, the latter has been falling out of favour in the last few decades as the population has grown used to calling themselves Ordonians. Nowadays, it is mostly used in scientific communities and by arrogant people who want to belittle the "uncivilised" humans.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
