Ordonia
More like Ordinaria! Huh...I thought it was a good joke. The "birthplace of nations", the "cradle of civilisation". There are many epithets meant to show the world how special this continent is, and thus how special are the people here. Why everyone should take after them and why Ordonians are destined to rule the world. You would think people would be more content living on a continent as vast and diverse as this. The continent itself forms most of what is known as the Old World, along with the Wellimbrook Archipelago. Much of it comes down to the fact that the Misty Falls are considered to separate our world from the God's realm itself, and so the lands beyond it are poorly explored. On the other side lies the Forbidden Forest, a dangerous place infested with magic which the clerics say is a dominion of Chaos, God's eternal rivals. With the continent dominated by the extremely religious Ardenian Empire, most explorers would rather dare the ocean's unruly waters and sail for thousands of miles than venture but a few dozen miles outside settled lands.
History
Many centuries ago, a world of God was corrupted by Chaos. In order to save the remaining humans, God led them through the great river and impassible waterfalls onto their new home. A continent created just for them, freed of Chaos' corruption and magic by the Gracious Wind. Such are the religious teachings of Kosaris, who claim to be the first race to settle Ordonia. Its rightful rulers, so they say. No one else agrees.
It is still debated whether Kosaris were the first to settle down here or if they were simply the first to leave behind documented records of it. Some argue that the aforementioned records do not look so ancient at all. Since the Ardenian Empire has ruled Ordonia for most of its known history, what was to stop them from purging all records that contradicted the official history? Whatever the case, a large portion of the continent's history lies in attempts by the Ardenian Empire to subjugate and control numerous Hummish nations. That and the time spent in frequent revolts and civil wars, of course.
It was not until the rise of the Kingdom of Eire that the Ardenian hold over the continent has begin to truly crumble. All sorts of people are claiming their own nations nowadays: Hummish, Eirish, Kimnans, Durreans and even breakaway Kosaris. Collectively, these people are all known as Ordonians. The Eirish, descendants of the Hummish who fled to the sea centuries ago, are not considered to belong to the continent despite actively meddling in its affairs. The past century saw more wars than ever, caused largely by the race for colonisation of the New World.
