Sacking of Wünenburg

The sacking of Wünenburg, Niccadia was a retaliatory assault on the city as pay back for the destruction being brought to Tynica by Operation Wheat From Chaff. The navy felt crushing the Reds production capabilities would strain and weaken them, instead of a brutal head on conflict in Tynica that the navy was not sure their land forces could win against the Red Army given they are small militia forces loyal to the Monarchy against the majority of the national army of the Woodangees. Taking out the largest port under Red control and primary manfaturing center in the country was decided to be a more practical way to slowly eat away at the Reds ability to continue the war.

The Conflict

The Engagement

The Battle began with the shelling of the city from a distance to take out defenses. Gerhart Weiss, Govenor of Niccadia imedietly prioritized civilian evacuation and saving of historical artifacts and national sites. ECO forces near by responded to Wünenburg's call for aid and arrived after naval troops had landed and were burning the city. The arrival of borderline special forces forced the Navy to withdraw, but Naval High Command had no real intentions of long term occupation.

Outcome

The city was devistated and the red forces further weakened.

Aftermath

This was a major leading factor to Niccadia attempting to declare independence.
