Personal history

Arda was one of five children ultimately claimed by King Evren Talat, after he imprisoned his brother who had murdered their other brother and believed it to be safe to do so. It is believed that there may have been more children who were fathered by either Evren or his murdered brother Emrah Talat, but their mothers did not want them claimed by the royal family as potential heirs. Evren did not blame them - it had, after all, killed Emrah.   The Queen inherited from her father the War of Conquest, but other than the continued fighting for the duration of her reign, it was largely uneventful. She was able to marry for love, one of her brother's closest friends, Stiggur Gurney. They had a son, Berak Talat the Younger whom they named after her brother Berak who had already died in the war.   Arda broke from tradition and did not foster or adopt any other children into her household. There was never any question that she intended for her son to be her heir, despite long Ostarian tradition to pick the best of many. However, she did raise him purposefully amongst his cousins and extended cousins, and with the example of taking strong advisors from those who knew more about things they were experts in.
