Personal history
Evren was plucked from his biological parents' (Hasan Talat) household shortly before his fifth birthday, as soon as his younger sister turned three and the most serious chances of deadly childhood illness had passed her by. While different rulers took different approaches to the the fostering process, Evren was raised entirely as if he was actually one of King Vadim's sons, instructed to call his own sister 'cousin' and his father and mother 'uncle' and 'aunt' instead.
The three Princes had a fairly good and normal childhood, marred only by the country's re-entry into yet another major conflict in the War of Conquest, but as time passed Vadim got more and more ruthless, and when they became teenagers and then young men, it became clear that they were competing for the throne; and their every action was being judged. The fierce competition led to tragedy - Prince Ethem murdered Prince Emrah Talat, and attempted to murder Evren. The King did not condemn the act, claiming it was a reasonable way to try to prove oneself the best for the throne, but ultimately named Evren his heir: not because of what Ethem had done, but because he had failed.
The first thing that Evren did when he succeeded Vadim as King was to imprison his brother for the crime of murdering Emrah, and he executed him about a year later for the same. Evren, long wary of his adoptive brother and the dangerous games their father had forced them to play, did not ever marry. After Ethem was imprisoned, Evren acknowledged five children: Princess Arda Talat, Princess Azmi Talat, Prince Berak Talat, Princess Doshi Talat, and Princess Naime Talat. The women who bore his children and several other children whom he did not ever claim but who were educated and raised alongside the Princes and Princesses were always well cared for by the Prince and later King, and given titles or lands of their own as they came of age.
Evren was emroiled in the War of Conquest for his entire reign.
