Personal history

Vadim, son of Roshan Talat and his wife Tawni, was chosen by his aunt Queen Sibel Talat as her heir over both of her own daughters and the possible choices of his cousins Seshen and Hasan, children of his Uncle Asil. Sibel never made a public statement about why she was choosing Vadim over all other contenders, but there was no public outcry about the choice and the novelty mostly faded quickly, a blip in the history books.   As a young man, Vadim seemed well suited to ruling. He inherited a KIngdom that was prospering, but unfortunately quickly became embroiled in the War of Conquest as the Austran natives became more and more aggressive, and some say that it was the war which turned him ruthless and cold. He ruled for 88 years.   He would have two sons of his own, Princes Ethem Talat and Emrah Talat; he would also take his cousin Hasan's child Prince Evren Talat at a young age and raise him as his own. He did not marry the twin Princes' mother, though she was well taken care of and kept esconced in his small flock of women in the palace. If he sired any other children, he did not claim them.   Though they got along fairly well when they were young, as Vadim aged he made no secret of the fact that his three sons were competing for the throne; and their every action was being judged. The fierce competition led to tragedy - Ethem murdered Emrah, and attempted to murder Evren. Vadim did not condemn the act, claiming it was a reasonable way to try to prove oneself the best for the throne, but ultimately named Evren his heir instead of Ethem, not because of the attempt on Evren's life but because Ethem was unsuccessful.
