Wrisresite Magocracy

Structure

Wrisresite is ruled by a Grand Mage. Under the Grand Mage is the High Council, and under them is the Low Council. The Councils are the closest thing that Wrisresite has to nobility.

Grand Mage

The Grand Mage is chosen from the High Council when the previous Grand Mage dies or abdicates. The selection process is a series of five magical competitions designed and overseen by members of the Low Council who reside in the capital. These competitions change every succession.   The Grand Mage lives in the palace in the capital.

High Council

There are a finite amount of High Council seats. Members of the High Council are appointed by the Grand Mage. The High Council can vote to remove a High Council member, and require a unanimous agreement to do so. Legitimate grounds for removal are having committed a crime or displaying low magical aptitude. The High Council writes laws, which must be approved by the Grand Mage. They also serve as advisors to the Grand Mage in matters of administration and foreign policy.   Members of the High Council live in the palace in the capital.

Low Council

Members of the Low Council must display aptitude in spellcasting as well as knowledge of the law. In order to be accepted, they are tested by members of the High Council or their representatives, who are appointed from among the Low Council. Members of the Low Council serve as local administrators, judges, and leaders of law enforcement, among other things.   Members of the Low Council typically live in somewhat fancy residences, although this varies.

Public Agenda

Advancement of Magical technology.

History

Wrisresite was founded shortly after the fall of the New Abrizan Empire, by some of the Dwarves who left the mines.

Demography and Population

Most residents of Wrisresite are Dwarves. Wrisresitians are generally neutral to other races, except for Dragons and Draconians, who they are generally quite hostile towards.

Agriculture & Industry

There are very few Wrisresitian mines, and those that do exist are staffed almost entirely by non-dwarf immigrants. Some of these mines will actually refuse to employ DwarvesDwarves who choose to work in mines are looked down upon, and are sometimes ostracized or even disowned.   Most of the Wrisresite Magocracy's metal is either imported or magically transmuted, usually from stone.
