A5 - Thunderous Charge

General Summary

ACT 5 - Thunderous Charge

1496.WI.68   Tibor Wester now the temporary Towns Master listens to the over whelming evidence against Grimnir Darkbane and has no choice but to agree with people of Phandalin. However he takes pity based on the good deeds he had already done in Phandalin. Tibor Banishes Grimnir from Phandalin giving him a chance to prove his inocence which he protested.   A few days later a battered Falcon arrives in Phandalin with news that the orcs and half orcs had attacked his lodge in overwhelming numbers. Not only that a monsterous boar with lightening tusk accompanied them. Once the boar had breached the walls there was no stopping them and he had no choice to flee the lodge.   Already hearing rumours of the giant Thunder boar frequenting Thundertree ruins the party decided to visit the area. The long ruined village was not far from Phandalin and some considered the area cursed, it was clear when arriving no one had been here for a very long time. Thick bushes and vines grew over the remains of the village and nature truely had reclaimed the area.   Whilst searching through the ruined buildings the party disturbed a family of ancient zombies who's skin was like ash and crumbled at the slightest strike. The noxious air filled with ash like skin made the party chock but Raziel with her holy radiance made the zombies flee. Additionally whilst exploring the party came across two giant spiders, however Maple with her speak to animals was able to charm them and they offered advice pointing in the direction of an old man.   In possibly the only remaining complete building a druid named Reidoth lived. He cared for the plants and had no issue with the numerous twig blights and spiders, although he steer clear of the zombies. He told the party of Gorthok Thunderboar who had been summoned by the Anchorites of Talos and that he ran freely through the ruins. He also pointed to a statue in the middle of the square where a magical weapon may be able help.   Stealthily moving into the square trying to retrive the silvery spear Gorthok charged out from the ruined tower atop of the hill. Knocking a number of the party over he plowed head long into the statue and Raziel trying to remove it. With a crash the statue collapsed but also released the spear. An all out barrage of arrows and magic missles kept the beast occupied whilst Albert and Raziel closed in for the kill. One strike from the spear and Gorthox became temporarily paralyzed unable to strike back. The group made quick work after this point.   Finally the group decided to escort Reidoth back to Phandalin as the area was no longer safe. On route back whilst mumbling he pointed out the directions and distance to Cragmaw Castle, once they party had showed interest he then pointed out the ancient Icespire Hold ontop of Sword Mountains in the distance. He even knew the long lost location of Wave Echo Cave.
