The Slitherswamp and Dweomercore

by Pietr Felborn

After resting in the temple we set back off into the swamp. We avoided a village of Bullywugs to the east of us and ran into a ghost outside another temple. While Espy was speaking to her, an apprentice of Halaster, Karstis, came over to warn us against speaking with her. He was researching the conflict occurring within the swamp. He led us on past the temple and to the passage down to the next level... Dweomercore.

When we arrived at the doorstep of the magical academy of the Mad Mage. We were greeted by someone pretending to be Halaster who offered membership to those of the arcane amongst us and to allow us passage if we pay a magic item each, or take care of a problem. The problem turned out to be a Bone Devil, who we agreed to deal with. The result of a summoning gone awry, the fight was likely to be difficult. We were teleported to a room in the complex with a portal to the 14th level and a door warded against devils. We pressed inward and found two bone devils who attempted to bargain with us for their release, but I was having none of it. After they were sent back to the planes of hell, we carried on exploring in the area.

The arcanoloth masquerading as Halaster arrived after our resting and told us he had been instructed to give us free reign within the academy and he would clear the yugoloths out ahead of us.

We started exploring and found several of Azroks goblins held prisoner, whom we released. Then we ran into a group of friendly rust monsters that seemed to eat magic essence from items instead of iron ones. We jammed that door shut with several of them still inside.

After that, we found a portal to level 2 that we had passed through before. Then we noticed Boblin was missing. We found him tied up as the goblins had taken the barrel donkey and his clothes. We'll deal with them when we return to Azrok's clan.

We found the way down and decided to take it.
