25 - It's Dave...

by Pothos Pirate

After opening the Museum we were asked to usher in the guests, so I tried to hide behind Ander to avoid Dave. But he invited my travelling companions to talk with him tomorrow and they seem keen to go. Trekar was left behind in Oddstoke because we were teleported from the forest party. He is in the hotel room and should be okay for a day, but I need to get back asap!!! I will go back in the morning and hopefully also keep Ander and Dmitri from meeting Dave.

This morning I got back Trekar, Anastasia picked him up from the Downward Dog for me. Anastasia is my friend T-T. and Trekar is my friend T-T. Ander and Dmitri won't want to be my friend after they talk with Dave. When they were waiting for their breakfast slow-cooked steak I bought them each a copy of the book as a parting present.

When we go see Dave he warns them about me exploiting them. He shows them the book. And honestly... I was expecting them to leave. I was expecting them to be mad, and want to leave me. Maybe travel with dave instead... But I was surprised. They seemed strangely okay with it... I guess they understand that I truly regret what I've done, and I would change it if I could. We even talked a bit about my past and how I survived the sinking ship to get here. We haven't gotten into the Gudar and Kira issues, but I don't want to ruin the moment. Ander did make me promise to tell Audra, which I am not looking forwards to. All of us have pretty rocky pasts, but Ander is right, we are a family now, no matter how dysfunctional <3. I need to focus on the people who can be helped now, the people of Alden we can avenge, and the God we need to kill. Dave went into the forest to hunt and cool off while we were discussing my past.

During this wonderful bonding moment, we heard Dave screaming from the forest and found him trapped with his new blade tooth companion under a net. There is a fire elemental with an escort of scimitar wielding men. Before we can do anything we were surrounded by a ring of fire and the elemental escaped towards the city. Luckily we were able to get out of the fire ring and stop the elemental before it got to the city. After the fight, we needed to clean up the forest and stop the fires from spreading.

After the fight, Dave pulled me aside and we had a moment of reconciliation. Dave was proud of how I did in the fight and how much stronger I became. Although my book didn't make life easier for Dave, It seems like it helped him stop chasing glory and focus on helping people. We have reached some sort of understanding, we have a strained peace for now.
