Katargysians
The katargysíans settled were descendants of Zameltonians who fled their homeland on the Meldon Plain after Zameltonía fell due to internal struggles and invasions of mostly human tribes, the latter taking advantage of their recent adoption of horse-riding in favor of chariots.
Unlike their ancestors, katargysíans lived in a number of kingdoms centered around underground cities and had limited contact with their neighbors on the surface, aside from trading. The proximity to Goldensands gave them access to magic crystals in far greater quantities than any Adynían civilization has enjoyed then or since, as they could mine under the desert's edge and thus avoid the hostile environment that kept others away.
The golden age of Katargysía came to an end when a deadly plague spread throughout their underground realm, causing a steady decline as tunnels and settlements gradually collapsed or flooded, as there weren't as many to maintain them. With the fall of the Paþarían Empire in central Adynía, another major wave of human invaders spread to Gysikan, where they met little resistance as they looted the precious artifacts and crystals from the cities.
The fate of the katargysían descendants wary, from Dvarrans who live in scattered communites in eastern Gysikan, to Refonians who've established an independent kingdom on the island of Refon, with the Dalindreans and Fazeronians somewhere in the middle, being vassal city-states of the Kingdom of Faron.
