Krelissía

Sikíronian: Krelissía /khrɛːlɪsːija/
Paþarian: Krelis /khrɛːlɪːs/
Krelissía is the provincial capital and only city in Voðría in the southern Sikíron Empire of central Adynía. It's located upon the upper Helkan in the southeastern part of the province.
The city is an important religious center within the empire, being sacred to the divine minotaur Ásaríus and his associated cult, and is known for its skilled healers and fine terracotta sculptures, the latter which are often brightly painted, gilded and sometimes even engraved with semiprecious gems. Krelissía's healers often receive visitors from all over the empire and beyond, as do the priests of Ásaríus, who offer the milk from the sacred cows at the temple to the ailing.
Krelissía's location by the river, giving it relatively quick access to the Sjorgús Mountains to the south and Gold Sea to the north, means that it's also regularly visited by traders and other travelers from the Kingdom of Marissía beyond the mountains.

Demographics

Most of the city's inhabitants are local Nemirkíans, though there are also small but notable communities of elven Marissíans, Paheiríen-Elves, Gartaraz-dwarves and their descendants.

History

Krelissía is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities in Nemirkía, and has been associated with bull worship since before cattle were domesticated. During the old Paþarían Empire it was known as Krelis, and while it was already a major religious site, it wasn't considered particularly important politically speaking.
This gradually changed after Paþaría's downfall, as the city became part of Pérgal -one of the successor states-, during which it served as a base of operations for fighting the rival kingdom of Tirúlíon to the east and, later on, capital of Pérgal as the royal court moved there from Nális.
Krelissía was conquered by queen Ástía of Sikíron in 800 a.Paþ after a long siege, who allowed her men to pillage most of the city, save for the Temple of Ásaríus and the surrounding pasture. As a result, a significant part of Krelissía has been rebuilt in sikíronían style.
