Nális

Sikíronian:

Nális /naulɪs/ is the provincial capital of Andartis in the southwestern Sikíron Empire in central Adynía. It's located on the coast of Gold Sea by the mouth of the river Geþrus.
The city is known for its wine and horses, and famous for its playwrights and theatric performances, with certain plays, particularly those related to myths and legends, predating the Paþarían Empire of old. A festival is held in Nális every five years, where playwrights both local and from all over Sikíron each reveal an original composition in hopes of not only winning a prized golden torc, but the honour of performing at the emperor's palace afterwards.
In Nális, new plays composed for the festial are traditionally dedicated to a specific deity or hero, and as such are considered offerings, meaning that they normally cannot be performed ever again.

History

Nális was once the center of the city-state of Nalánnon in northwestern Nemirkía, one of many which appeared following the fall of Zameltonía -one of Adynía's earliest civilizations- at the dawn of iron age. It was eventually absorbed into the Paþarían Empire and functioned as capital of the province of Nálisinna between the rivers Geþrus and Helkan.
During this time, a number of elves and half-elves settled in Nális, most of whom hailed from Núrak or the western edge of Paþaría, and brought with them a number of customs and religious traditions which contributed to the city's culture, such as a preference for neat rather than diluted wine.
After Paþaría's collapse and splintering into a number of successor states, Nális became the capital of Pérgal during the kingdom's first few centuries until the royal court was moved to Krelissía to the east, and finally was conquered by the armies of Sikíron.
