Background

Born at Elvenkeep, he left at an early age to be an Ambassador of Elvenkeep, called Te'Lanae. This was a very serious honor to be chosen for this job. He would have a heavy voice in many matters on the mainlands as he speaks with the authority of the Elvenkeep.
Arannis grew close to a wood elf named Elaina from Torsari. The two had a child, Elia Cithreth. While they had met and spent most of their time in Mondorlyan, a matter arose that Arannis had to tend to in Torsari, so they made their home in Torsari for a most of Elia's youth. Elaina died during this period. Soon after, Arannis was called to help with various matters at different locations and he took Elia with him and once again made Mondorlyan their home.

Shadows of Wolfhurst

A growing threat necessitated the call of Elven forces to ward of advances of dark forces from within Wolfhurst Mountain. The call was issued by the Elven High Council to prevent the fall of Elfhaven as Estren was ill prepared. The elves of Harailin stood strong from the east side of the mountain, but the delayed response from Estren and the lack of push from the elves at Ornathrad outside of their own forest left lands to the west of the mountain vulnerable to goblin forces as they spilled out.
Arannis Cithreth found it difficult to police these goblins in the outset of the campaign and raised help from local forces within Elfhaven. Darion Varrs joined the fight and became a valuable asset to Arannis's cause. Elia Cithreth was also a part of this local force and fought along side Darion.

The two quickly became fond of each other and, over time, fell in love. Arannis recognized Darion's Elven family name of Galanodel from his time at Elvenkeep and became standoffish and curt toward him.
The surrounding lands of the mountain were eventually cleansed of the protruding darkness and the campaign turned to closing off the access from the mountain and pushing the goblins deeper within. To the people of Elfhaven, it appeared in hand with no major incursions near the city.
Some of the unscrupulous individuals with power in Elfhaven found Arannis to be a problem in their operations within and around the city and plotted to remove him as there appeared to be no end to his presence. One primary figure hired The Dark Thorn to assassinate Arannis.
Darion Varrs recognized Arannis as a target of The Dark Thorn. Darion explained the danger Arannis was in and handed him his single amnesty spell scroll given to him from his time with The Dark Thorn. Darion walked Arannis through the spell and had him say the words, "From shadows come the fiercest blade, like an unseen thorn whilst reaching for the richest fruit. Arannis Cithreth." A voice returned, "From shadow to shadow." Darion told Arannis he was now safe from the Thorn, but in revealing his past to Arannis & Elia, Darion fled.

Presently

Arannis continues his work at Elfhaven, warding off the goblins and rooting out some of the unscrupulous personages of the city during his stay as he awaits his next mission or has the opportunity to return home to Mondorlyan.
