Demographics
85% Human, 3% Genasi (50% Water, 50% Earth), 3% Halfling, 2% Half-Orc, 2% Other.
10% Noble/Merchant Class, 90% Working Class.
Government
A merchant council consisting of three members: one to represent the fishermen, onto to represent the farmers and one to represent the craftsmen meet with the Lord Mayor weekly to govern the affairs of the town.
Standard laws and taxes apply to all inhabitants and are upheld by the Lawmaster and their soldiers.
Defences
Lawmaster. Torbera Ironfist
The Lord Mayor employs a force of approximately 500 trained soldiers (95% human, 5% other) which is managed by the Lawmaster.
A wooden palisade surrounds the town, breaking only for the three roads which are secured by large wooden gates. Atop each gate are two large ballistae, manned by soldiers. Around the top of the palisade is a platform which more soldiers guard on a regular rotation.
The streets and dock are patrolled by groups of soldiers, both during daylight and at night.
Industry & Trade
The predominant trade within the town is fishing. Most of the inhabitants either make a living through selling fish to local merchants at market for export or from family who travel to work at the Stonefall mine.
Some families farm the land outside the town, producing various grains which are also sold at market.
Infrastructure
The Drunken Angler. A tavern located in the south-west of the town, near the docks. It is run by Old Ben and is frequented mostly by the local fisherman and other members of the working class.
The Wandering Bard. A tarvern marketed towards the more wealthy in the town and travelling merchants. It is located in the north-east of the town and is run by Faralei Brightwood.
The Hammer 'n' Anvil. The town's only blacksmith located in the town centre. Manned by the blacksmith Kayden, 'The Hammer' caters to all who need metalwork done, from a fisherman's boat to a merchant's carriage.
Dockside Market. Every second day, the street parallel to the docks is transformed into a bustling marketplace. Here, the townspeople buy and sell their produce to each other and merchants looking to export to neighbouring settlements.
The Church of the Mere. A holy place dedicated to the god Kord, most of the population come here to worship in one form or another.
Bake 'n' Flake. A popular bakery in the north part of town owned by the Halfling Kenith. It is particularly famous for its iced buns.
Assets
A large warehouse stores preserved fish, meat and grain, ready for the winter months. At it's capacity, it holds enough to supplement the whole town for three months.
History
The town was originally founded as a fishing village, however as more trade from the west and south came through on it's way to Newport, the town developed as merchant families took up residence more money came in.
Linstead has been around since before the Confluence.
Architecture
Houses are typically made with faded-white plaster and wood (Tudor style). The merchant and noble class have houses made of stone to set them apart from the masses (Georgian style).
Most houses face directly onto the street . The wealthier families have their own gated community in the east of the town.
The town centre contains a large stature of the god Kord. Outside of the docks, this is the busiest spart of twon, with most roads lead through this area.
South of the town centre is a large village green which the women of the town regular tend to. It contains a variety of trees which children like to play in.
Geography
The town is built on the eastern edge of Lake Calsano. To the north, you can see the Ersatz Mountains and the road to the town of Stonefall. The roads to the east and south pass through rolling hills of fertile land, seemingly featureless for many miles.
