Cult of Eternity
Cult of Jaivanta
The Cult of Eternity, or the Cult of Jaivanta, is one of the few remaining Cult of the Wyrm branches in the modern day. It originated, as so many other of the time, in the Craddle Valley early in the reign of Ancient Siduum. There, it began as a tiny cult of one of the many upstarts Red Dragon in the region's southern mountains. Some obscure evidence hints at the possibility that the cult began with another Dragon, but later transitioned their worship to Jaivanta the Eternal One. The cult doctrine contradicts this, claiming that their dragon-god is eternal, and has always been the center of the cult's devotion. At the height of Ancient Siduum's power the cult is all but absent from surviving records contemporary to the culture. It reemerged after that nations fall, though still minor even in their own lands, and was largely used to scare children that are naughty. It wasn't until the Lakorthian Age that the cult has come into its own, shifting from a cradle-tale to a real threat to neighboring nations.
Eshir Azzin, a nation in the mountains south of Craddle-Valley, is secretly ruled by the Cult of Eternity. It is an open secret. The nation's noble families are open members of the cult, though most claim it does not influence their daily lives. Its members, however, meet in secret locations, with rituals hidden behind closed doors. There are ranks in the membership, with only the highest levels privy to the cult's true intentions, their highest priests the only that see and speech to Jaivanta.
The cult isn't content in just holding the power in Eshir Azzin, it has been sending agents to the surrounding queendoms of Hydossia and Hathor to try to spread its influence, though with little success. On the other hand, to its north, in Mysobia it has spread quickly, with shrines in many of the larger cities, and fears of noble houses falling into the cults grip. Priests of the cult in Eshir Azzin's primary port city of Arzhan have focused their attention on recruiting sailors and merchants porting in their waters. They have also spent coin in opening a public school for the poorer commoner's children, to rise the education level of their people, as so many modern nations have done. It is clear that the Cult of Eternity has a focus for expansion today.
