Ayorhah Continent

The Ayorhah land mass is located on the east side of Grand Campo, and is merging with the continent over time thrusting up mountains along the southwest edge of the sub-continent. The continent is largely arid, with a savanna like northern coast along The Meridian Sea and The Long Sea. Its eastern sea board is on the Shavari Sea. The interior of the continent is a mix of rocky canyons, sandy deserts and old lava terrain.
Ayorhah Sub-Continent

Geography

This continent broke off of The Uthgart Vastness millions of years ago forming the long sea and driving up mountains and spawning volcanoes. As the continent rose the sea bed an ancient sea formed between Grand Campo and Ayorhah. This sea was squeezed out over millions of years forming massive canyons and bad lands. The sands of the ocean floor lie exposed as well as new volcanic bad lands. There are several active volcano clusters still.     The northern coast is a hot dry savanna with decent soil for farming most of the year. The Isthmus of Besseam divides the sub-continent from the Uthgart Vastness. The Savanna along the long sea is known as the Sphinx Rise Plains but are the eastern most part of the continent.   Large canyons, buttes, valleys, cliff faces and mesas make up the Nisheii towers range, the Gaaga Bad Lands, and the Y'Navi Monuments. This huge area of arid canyons is still ill mapped and confusing landscape explored by few and even most nomads avoid the area for long. water and food is hard to come by and there is little wood suitable for building.   This area is surrounded by the Glass Dagger Desert, a harsh sandy desert with a near constant wind howling down from the mountains with many huge dunes.   The Asduh mountains form the western boundary between the North Campo Region and the Ayorhah sub continent. These rocky mountains are young, only a few million years old. They are made of sedimentary rock being pushed up with outcroppings of metamorphic rocks from the sea floor.   The World Spine mountains are a larger and older set of mountains that were the area of first contact between these land masses pushed up against each other.   The Red mountains form the southern edge of the sub-continent and have several active volcanoes. These three mountain ranges form a wall that captures all of the moisture flowing in from the west stripping any clouds. This contributes to the very arid climate and the formation of the Kammera Desert, another sandy but less exaggerated sand dune desert.   In the center of the continent are the lava fields that were open volcanic calderas several tens of millions of years ago. This area has formed a rocky crust that is still very rough black terrain, but when mixed with water forms extremely dense volcanic topsoil which when there is a water source springs up limited but dense vegetation. Ayorhah settlers have found easy to extract minerals and can till the soil into good farm land.
