The Flooding of Aquatica

During the The Chaos Wars the unrestrained magic that was used in the battles destabilized dimensional walls between the planes and opened portals between the realms. 
In many locations under the ocean, portals opened to the Plane of Water and pulled various creatures through to the waters of Aquatica. Some of the creatures that came through were the Valas, Octari(species:9c3e6cf1-bf3d-4382-93a8-4c5b22d3458b), @[Squaran, Maelstrus, Delfin, Delfino, Walaran, Aquatic Elves, Marindara, and many others.
Some of these races have evolved after their journey to Aquatica, and no one has ever found a way home. The families that have been split up by this are emotionally broken by their loss, some have even been driven crazy by the separation. 
Some of the portals have stayed open but are one-way, and are usually tiny or microscopic, but the water is continually fed. These portals have raised the water levels of Aquatica significantly. Coastlines receded, and most lowlands have been flooded. 
The Bottomless Cataract, was originally a cave when Hy-Altia Mother-Ship landed on the roof of the cave and it collapsed. This misaligned the magical fountain in the courtyard and disabled the off switch. When this happened the cave flooded and became the Bottomless Cataract (Endless Falls). The water flooded all the tunnels, even carved out new ones, and created underground rivers.
