Summary
The party greeted the drunken halfling in the Crossroads, who collapsed on the piano.
Val & Pocket communed with the spirits at Vayla Temple. The spirits whispered cryptic messages to them.
Sheriff Karock asked the group to figure out who was responsible for distracting the town guard recently. The guards were given an order to stay in an area away from the fight with Falbin happened earlier. Turmic claimed to have heard the orders from Loomy, who claimed to have heard from Venra, who claimed to have heard from Turmic.
Val & Pocket snuck into the sheriff's office, finding a locked safe and town records (citizenry, crimes, taxes, etc) for the last 100 years. They did not find any inconsistencies among the tax records, and mentions of the Order of the Emerald Feather began only a few months ago.
The group questioned the three suspect guards. Loomy was hiding that he went for a smoke break just before the orders. Venra mentioned that Turmic was in the middle of his turkey sandwich lunch while spreading news.
The Sheriff mentioned that Turmic is a vegetarian, and wouldn't eat a turkey sandwich. The party realized Venra was lying, and confronted her.
Venra confessed that her daughter Amber, who left to be an adventurer recently, was captured by the Order of the Emerald Feather and was being held hostage to force Venra to aid them.
Soonie picked up Amber's scent from their home, and tracked her into the grassland toward Lake Abosa. The party found a location where a fight had occurred. A rusted dagger was found in the dirt.
While camping, the party was attacked by a displacer beast. After slaying it, Green collected its pelt, which was later given to Quasar to construct into a magic item.
The party followed the scent into the woods. They discovered a dilapidated stone ruin with four shackled prisoners, a rope-tied rust monster, and an Emerald Feather squad.
The party defeated the Emerald Feather squad and their rust monster pet. The lead officer was killed, and two members were captured. Green collected the rust monster's carapace. The prisoners were freed, one of which was Amber.
By questioning a captive Emerald Feather member, the party learned that a paid town contains 10-20 agents, while an unpaid town contains 5-10 spies. There were three leaders of the Order, each in a different hideout. At least one hideout was in the forest, and at least one was in the Bazen Hills near the Bazen Castle. The Order provided food and lodgings for its members, and a wage of 25gp / month.
The party returned to Salmund with their rescued prisoners in tow. Venra confessed her actions to the Sheriff, and the players exonerated her with Amber's party's story.
Grey's patron told him to ask Amber about her art, which turned out to be tattooing. Grey agreed to get two tattoos: a spirit and an angel. Pocket got a mouse tattoo.
