Vonro Gardrim

An archdruid of Frigus, Vonro Gardrim grew up in the cold north being mentored by a wise elven druid named Silatinu. Growing in wisdom and kindness during his long elven life, Vonro eventually married his love, a human named Holly. The two made a home in the village of Thicketon, and adopted an abandoned orc child named Goritir.   Thicketon was peaceful, but it came at a price. The town leader paid a generous sum to the surrounding Orcish settlements in exchange for protection. One day, Vonro returned to the village to see a single Orc towering over a small group of townspeople, the village leader at the front. Holly was in the crowd, and she spotted her husband and adopted child nearing.   Vonro couldn't hear much from where he was, but he knew it was nothing good. The Orc messenger demanded money. The townspeople hadn't amassed it yet. The Orc demanded something for collateral, then. Grinning, he grabbed Holly's arm, piercing the fabric of her coat. She cried out in pain.   Vonro felt electricity coursing through his body, and he raised his arms, ready to strike the Orc down, when something massive knocked him over. There was a gurgling, ear-piercing roar, and Vonro watched from the snowy ground as Goritir, in the form of a hulking grizzly, charged towards the Orc. Goritir slashed at the Orc messenger, trying to protect his mother. As the Orc howled in pain, hundreds more Orcs began charging out of the woods. They had been watching the whole time. Vonro began to cast every nature spell he could, but a swift blow to the back of the head knocked him out cold.   When Vonro finally came to, there was nothing left. The village had been burnt; there were no survivors. He trudged through the snow, and found two bodies in the snow; Holly and Goritir, who had reverted back to his usual half-orc form. With trembling hands, Vonro closed Gori's eyes, now without their usual sparkle of curiosity. For once in his life, the all-powerful archdruid felt powerless.   He could transform into any animal his heart desired. He could command pillars of fire. He could communicate with trees and listen to them talk back. He could release bolts of lightning that could rend mountains, and cause a blizzard cold enough to freeze hellfire. But he could not undo what had been done.   Well... he hadn't tried.   Hiding from the Orcs, Vonro began training himself to use a spell he had never attempted. Turning back time is no easy feat, but Vonro persisted. He needed to go back and prevent the Orc attack. Days became months, months became years, and finally, one day, five years after the tragedy, Vonro felt the mana within him pulse. It was time.   Picking up his yew-wood staff, Vonro channeled every ounce of power he had within him. The power of nature swelled within his chest. His mind filled with thoughts of his lovely wife, his son. He felt his tears land on his freezing cheeks, then for the briefest moment, felt them rise back up into his eyes.   Exactly one second had reversed, before Vonro found himself in a black void, with the sounds of nothing but his beating heart... and the steady, distant sound   Of a clock ticking.   Vonro had succeeded in reversing time, but it had cost him his life. Elsewhere, the reversal of time had allowed the insane Lightsworn Janus to escape his imprisonment; a fact that would haunt Vonro for sometime.   In 1006 3A, Vonro was resurrected by the Alphacian Alex / Arcturus, along with the other members of what would become The Sanctioned.   During his time with the Sanctioned, Vonro adopted a protective role amongst the group, desperately wanting to keep safe those he quickly grew to care for. Still haunted by the deaths of his wife and adopted son, Vonro developed friendships with those he deemed to be in need of guidance, such as Alex / Arcturus and the similarly guilt-ridden Jason Dierdre / Reaver, the latter having a lot in common with the druid.   Adventuring through Velant, Vonro developed romantic feelings for the leader of The Rovers, the elf Artemis. Eventually, the two started a romantic relationship, with Artemis eventually asking Vonro to marry her.   Due to Vonro's kind natured, he also crafted a strong friendship with the Alphacian Hythlodeaus residing inside of him. Vonro also attracted unwanted attention; particularly from the leader of The Holy Light Cardinal Sarif and Janus himself. Observing Vonro's guilt and regret, Janus would continually torment Vonro specifically, leaving both a physical and mental mark on the druid that has yet to fully heal.   Near the end of Vonro's journey across Velant, the Sanctioned's close friend Rin Trueheart was infected with Primordial Light energy. Vonro managed to cure her, though he did so by making the decision to destroy all of her memories of Jason Dierdre / Reaver.   During his journey, Deacon died at the hands of Janus, but managed to be resurrected by the party.   After the death of Janus, Vonro chose to stay with Artemis and the Rovers in Velant, the two having adopted Tifa, a young Tiefling child Vonro had rescued from the clutches of Cardinal Sarif. In the Rover camp, Vonro was confronted by Jason Dierdre / Reaver, who expressed the pain he felt Vonro had caused him. Vonro now desparately searches for his friend in an attempt to make amends, though Jason has not been seen in Velant since...
