The
Harolaud was a
gnomish shipping vessel that operated out of the
Santeem Republic. The gnomish name roughly translates to "clockwork tide". It went missing in late Felim 5A 352, and was the target of the quest taken by the
Lost Vessel Seekers that same year. The Harolaud was eventually located in the
Red Rocks bay and was later sunk.
Description
The Harolaud was a small wooden sailing ship made for the transport of goods. There were three main decks; a primary deck, a lower deck for crew functions and some cargo storage, and a bottom deck for the storage of goods. There were two access stairways with simple, lockable latches in each deck, one towards the fore and one towards the aft. There was a latticework hold access in the center of the deck.
There was rope rigging down along the side of the ship leading from the waterline to the main deck. At the prow of the ship was a carved wooden bust of a serpentine rendition of
Sehakora, The Maelstrom, that lead from the bottom of the ship to the bow. The bust was painted white and glowed the color of moonlight.
Crew
The crew of the Harolaud were gnomish. They wore matching uniforms, and the captain of the vessel had a slightly finer set.
The entirety of the crew was killed by
Fire Elementals from the
Red Rocks.
Resources
In addition to the special cargo, a
green ring, it carried for
Maalik, the ship was believed to also be carrying many metals and tinkerwork items.
History
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
The Harolaud was hired by
Maalik to transport an item of importance from the
Santeem Republic to
Endor, the First Mountain. During this voyage, the Harolaud travelled away from standard shipping lanes. It was scheduled to arrive Endor near to the end of Felim 5A 352 but it went missing before it arrived. On 24 Felim 5A 352, Maalik hired the
Lost Vessel Seekers to find the Harolaud and retrieve the item of importance it carried and deliver it to her.
On 3 Madaet 5A 352, the Lost Vessel Seekers reached the Harolaud in the
Red Rocks bay. The ship had been frozen in the bay by a winter storm and spires of ice had impacted into the vessel and held it in place. The force of the ice was enough to angle the deck of the ship at a 45 degree tilt and crack and splinter parts of the deck and hull.
The
Fire Elementals of the Red Rocks had then been able to cross the ice and attack the stranded ship and crew. Though the crew had attempted to barricade themselves away from the Elementals, eventually the entire crew of the Harolaud were lost and drained of their lifeforce.
The Lost Vessel Seekers arrived at the ship to find a coalesced Fire Elemental that reacted to the green ring item in the cargo of the ship. In this interaction, the Elemental grew to a huge size and blew the ship in half and completely severing the bust of
Sehakora, The Maelstrom, from the prow. During the fighting,
Durak Hamarhart broke the frozen ice of the bay, causing the bust to sink into the water. The crack of the ice and the damage caused by the Fire Elemental caused the frozen sheet over the bay to shatter, and the two halves of the Harolaud sunk into the bay.
