Ritivan Cartographers Guild

The Ritivan Cartographers Guild is a group of cartographers, mapmakers, and explorers that craft maps of the regions of Azimuth. They are a loose affiliation of crafters, rather than a strict guild with a regimented hierarchy. As a result, the quality of the maps can vary based on the funding, time, or resources provided to the mapmakers.   As a guild, they are sometimes contracted to create maps of specific regions by other guilds, organizations, or governments. They are responsible for many maps available for use across the world.   The guild was originally formed early in the Fifth Age by the Ivan, the Oozemaster, and were named after his and his mother, Rita's mapmaking skills.

History

The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
In the early Fourth Age, Rita, Wielder of the Zenethian Staff, spent several years after the Great War traveling the world, mapping the changes that the century of fighting wrought.   In 4A 995, the Zenethian Children purchased supplies, including a map, from Grank's Ten-Foot Pole Emporium. They would later learn the original copy of this map was crafted by Rita.
The Fifth Age: The Age of Beginnings
Early in the Fifth Age, Ivan, the Oozemaster, spent time traveling Azimuth once more. During this journey, he would expand on the Azimuth map from Rita, creating the first Ritivan world map.   On 20 Sedaena 5A 178, Luyos took a job with the guild from Thelman Krestwall. The guild had been commissioned by Endor, the First Mountain, to map an area of the Galaz Forest for the next Kings Towers construction.   At some point prior to 5A 352, Lord Lortuk was involved with efforts by the guild to map the spread of corruption in Tarteria.   The 5A 352 Santeem Republic aid caravan to the Queendom of Keeleon was provided a Ritivan Cartographers Guild map of Tarteria. On 4 Adroth 5A 352, Captain Levka Ruslan said the map seemed fine as a full continent map but didn’t seem to be very accurate on a local level, as it was missing some key features, like the Black Marsh Road and Axe-Breaker Thicket.
