Upon entering the
crystal inner chamber and within the
Vault during the trials the heroes encounter entities seemingly made of crystal including briefly those made of ice crystals. Within the vault the entities function as combatants to demonstrate understanding of the
Weapons of Power weaknesses. Within the inner chamber they appear to be caretakers to the crystals themselves. The one guiding the others was a green crystal
mantis. They tend to the crystals much like gardeners to a garden especially the red crystals for reasons which were not disclosed.
The crystal entities in addition to acting as caretakers of the crystals also were entrusted with being keepers of many magical artifacts and one of the shards from the
Orb. The mantis explained they hard earned the right to take the shard but to be entrusted to be one of the weapons caretakers they must make a pledge.
Erem Scathac declared the pledge to take on the bow. Additionally Erem,
Eric Harmon and
Hadley Messer pledge to keep safe a
Jeweled Scarab which would permit them to return to the chamber without taking on another trial.
