New Falas is the capital of the human republic of Númra in northern Rúþría, a region in the northern Southlands in southern Borgalor. Located at the mouth of the river Tarnúra in the province of Ákar, it's the largest and oldest city in Númra, and considered by many the modern heart of human civilization in the Southlands, if not Borgalor in general.
New Falas' current popularity is a relatively recent development, as during Númra's time as a kingdom following its independence from Berekría the city went through decline, then relative stability after the monarchy was abolished, only to face new challenges after the Fell Wars due to the destruction of much of southwestern Jælondis and needing to accommodate a huge influx of people looking for a new home.
Several notable corporations and other organizations are headquartered in New Falas, including Bread 'n' Brew, Fun&Games Co. and Speedy's.
The current mayor of New Falas is Spó Aprar.

Demographics

The majority of New Falas' inhabitants are humans, predominantly descendants of Berekríans, Kmúþans and other groups originally from Jútrilía or Maralon Steppe, while the rest hail from all corner of the world, making the city one of the most diverse in all of Borgalor.

Defences

A number of defensive walls have been erected throughout the city's history, most of which have since disappeared, having been used as quarries by the locals as New Falas expanded or incorporated into other structures. The modern walls marks the city proper, beyond which are extensive suburbs.

Points of interest

  • Boulder Field: A small park in the western city that serves as a memorial for those who died in a clash between númrans and native Trolls during the early days of the colony. The large boulders thrown by the trolls before they were driven off have been on display there for centuries.
  • City Hall: A large, circular building with a domed roof imitating traditional maralonean tents, with rows of small windows and a central oculus providing it with natural light. Large tapestries along the walls depict major events in Númra's history in intricate detail, which are rearranged as new ones are added.
  • Jekral Grove: A large, sacred apple grove planted by Jekrals fleeing the Fell Wars, which also acts as the headquarters for a Malic Order of warriors sworn to protect the site, and provide locals with sanctified cider and apple-seed oil for rituals.
  • New Falas Zoo: One of the largest ones in the Southlands, New Falas Zoo houses a number of different fauna and flora, including southlandic ones such as Marsh Stalkers and Musk Bears along with more exotic creatures such as Serpopards and unicorns.
  • The Parliament House: The center of Númra's government, a large circular building in similar style as the city hall, but with a stained glass roof showing traditional berekrían designs. A mosaic depicting a black gryphon on a white background adorns the floor at the center of the chamber.
  • Architecture

Most of the city's buildings are constructed out of stone, bricks and more recently concrete, featuring a variety of styles both for aesthetic reasons as well as to accommodate members of different sapient species, including Fairies, Cyclopes and Ophids.
