The Spine

This mountain chain effectively divides the northern and southern halves of the continent. It reaches the ocean in the west and finally dies out in the deserts that divide Corgeria from Regaland. The mountain range is very high with peaks ranging up to 23,000 feet. The higest peak is Mount Killora just to the West of Zareb.

Climate

The high peaks of the Spine experience a long, harsh winter during which they accumulate a massive snowpack.  The melt of the highest areas often goes into early summer with winter weather returning in midfalls.  The summer is generally cool and pleasant, but violent thunderstorm are often a problem, especially along the southern side of the range.

Fauna & Flora

Mixed forest covers the lower slopes and foothills of much of the range. At mid altitude thick evergreen forests and lush meadows become the dominate feature.  At 17,000 or above this gives away to mountain Tundra with scrub and high grass.  A great variety of wildlife inhabits the Spine.  White Tigers and wolves are usually the apex predators.  Deer, goats, wooly cows and wild horses all inbahit the range.
